Nutritional Values

The olive fruit and its by-products, like olive oil and olive paste, form the basis of the Mediterranean Diet, which has been rightly recognized as a standard of healthy nutrition and a factor of longevity.

The unsaturated fatty acids it contains make the olive fruit a very beneficial natural foodstuff. It also contains natural fibers and minerals, thus providing the human body with Vitamin E, a natural antioxidant. Studies on the nutritional value of edible olives have shown that consumption of the olive fruit also functions as a prevention method against various deceases, such as atherosclerosis, cardiovascular diseases, liver dysfunctions, and disorders of the nervous system. Also, because of the Vitamin E, it delays the decay of cellular membranes and fights osteoporosis.

It is well-known that, because of the consumption of olives and olive oil, the people of the Mediterranean countries have notably lower percentages of cardiovascular disease compared to other countries not on the Mediterranean coasts.

The micronutrients in olives are potassium, calcium, phosphorus, iron, magnesium, copper and sodium.

Olives are a complete food in themselves and also a necessary complement to any meal, unsparingly offering health and longevity.
